On April 20, the ‘Swiss Alliance against Neglected Tropical Diseases’ was founded in Geneva. The Alliance is comprised of 12 Swiss NGOs, educational and research institutes and pharmaceutical companies who are coming together in an effort to combat NTDs.
The Alliance was founded during the 2017 NTD Summit in Geneva, Switzerland, with the intention of raising the profile of NTDs like leprosy, river blindness, elephantiasis and schistosomiasis in Switzerland, as well as bringing organisations together to fight them through innovation and collaboration.
ILEP, on behalf of its membership who together are fighting leprosy in 61 countries around the world, is proud to be a part of the Alliance. It offers an excellent opportunity to collaborate with and learn from other Swiss based organisations who are focused on ending NTDs where they exist.
The Swiss Alliance against Neglected Tropical Diseases includes the non-profit organizations FIND, Drugs for Neglected Tropical Diseases Initiative, Leprosy Mission Switzerland and FAIRMED, the Geneva University Hospitals, the Global Health Institute (EPFL), the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute, the Universities of Zurich and Neuchâtel and the pharmaceutical companies Novartis and Merck.
